Property Spotlight: Birdhope Craig Church

At 2812 Studio, we specialise in bringing properties to life through exceptional photography, capturing the details and stories that make each one unique. From luxury homes to heritage buildings, we’ve photographed over 1,200 properties for our longstanding clients, Host & Stay.

Located in the picturesque village of Rochester in Northumberland, near the Scottish borders, Birdhope Craig Church is a breathtaking Grade II listed building. This converted church, with its original features like the pulpit and wooden gallery, stands as a striking example of how history and modern living can seamlessly blend.

As the property sits on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, it’s surrounded by dramatic landscapes, and with some of England’s darkest skies, it’s perfect for stargazing. On the pilgrimage to the shoot, our photographer Ben Benoliel made a serendipitous stop at "The Last Café in England," a hidden gem that added even more charm to the day.

When Ben stepped into the church, he was immediately struck by its grandeur. The owners have preserved its structure exactly as it was in 1826, allowing the space to retain its historical essence. Photographing from the pulpit wasn’t just helping practicality—it provided the ideal vantage point for capturing the church’s stunning interiors.

LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

To ensure every angle of Birdhope Craig Church was showcased, Ben walked across the surrounding land, scouting for the perfect outdoor shots to complement the interior photography. Shooting from the balcony in the late afternoon winter light allowed us to capture soft, golden hues spilling over the surrounding fields, with sheep grazing peacefully in the distance. This lighting added warmth and character to the images, perfectly wrapping up the shoot.

Giraffe 360

For this project, we also created a 360° giraffe tour, enabling prospective visitors to explore the property virtually. This tool allows potential guests to fully appreciate the scale, intricate details, and charm of Birdhope Craig Church, right from the comfort of their homes.

At 2812 Studio, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond to highlight the beauty of every property we photograph. Whether it’s capturing the timeless elegance of a Grade II listed church or ensuring we take advantage of the perfect lighting conditions, we’re passionate about showcasing spaces in their best light. Our expertise in interior photography ensures that every detail, from architectural highlights to the surrounding landscapes, is represented in a way that resonates with clients and guests alike.

If you’re looking to elevate your property’s visual appeal and tell its story through exceptional photography, we’re here to help. From detailed interior shoots to immersive 360° tours, we’ll ensure your property stands out.
